Sellincourt Primary School and The Brick Box enter in to an creative and innovative partnership

Sellincourt Primary School and The Brick Box have partnered up for the spring term in order to give year 5 and 6 students a taste of running an arts cafe.

Sellincourt Primary are participating in ‘Go4it’, a leading national recognised awards process for schools in the UK demonstrating creativity, innovation and an adventure for learning with a positive attitude towards risk.

Every Friday afternoon, students from years 5 and 6 will be visiting The Brick Box in Tooting Market. They will work alongside Brick Box staff in order to learn a wide range of skills from taking an order and making cakes in the cafe, to running arts and crafts activities for younger children attending local schools.

Other Wandsworth Primary Schools are invited to bring their reception classes to the workshops.

This Friday, 3rd February, Sellincourt Primary School children will officially open the newly refurbished Brick Box cafe in the heart of Tooting Market with a short performance starting at 1:20pm. A reception class from St. Boniface Primary RC will be arriving between 1:30 and 1:45pm to enjoy the arts workshop guided by the older Sellincourt children.

Johnette Barrett, Head of Sellincourt school, said: 'This is a marvellous opportunity where our children will learn about enterprise education in a real life situation whilst enhancing their creative, social and leadership skills. They are all delighted to be taking part. We hope to apply for the coveted National Enterprise Award in the near future.'

Eleanor Barrett, Artistic Director of The Brick Box, said: ‘We are delighted to be working with the children. It is a great opportunity for the kids to get hands-on experience and increase their confidence in a friendly community atmosphere. These are the entrepreneurs of the future - and we are inspired!’
